STILL LIFE WHIT SKIER

From Cortina d'Ampezzo, via Alta Badia, Arabba-Marmolada, San Martino di Castrozza/Passo Rolle, up to the Civetta Pass, there is the largest carousel of ski resorts in the Italian Alps, with some 890 ski slopes, a total of 1,200 km of tracks, and various ancillary activities.

It is paradoxical that in the midst of a climate crisis, with increasingly dry summers, increasingly arid terrain, and water emergencies, some 250 million euros have been allocated for ski resorts. Injections of public money for resorts, in the most absurd cases, that do not even reach a thousand metres in altitude, when already this year there was no trace of natural snow below two thousand metres. But also investments in ski resorts already closed in the past precisely because of the lack of precipitation.

Italian politicians, from North to South, pretend that climate change does not exist and spend money on projects with no future, increasingly turning natural places into theme parks for mass tourism. Most of the investments ordered by the government concern the expansion of snowmaking systems, even though producing artificial snow is increasingly expensive and requires ever-increasing expenditure of electricity and water resources.
